Terms of Use

Last updated: [[EFFECTIVE_DATE]]

These terms govern your use of Golf Ball Performance Lab (the "Service"), at golfballperformancelab.com. By using the Service you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use the Service.

Golf Ball Performance Lab is a trading name of Ari Data Services Ltd, a company registered in England & Wales (company no. 13870857) ("we", "us", "our").

1. What the Service is

Golf Ball Performance Lab is an independent, evidence-based golf ball fitting tool. You answer questions about your game, and a transparent rules engine ranks golf balls against your profile using performance scores that we build by combining multiple independent, published tests.

Right now the Service offers a free fitting. A more detailed paid report is in development; when it launches it will have its own additional terms.

2. What our recommendations are — and what they aren't

This is the important part, so we'll be direct about it.

  • Our recommendations are informational guidance, generated by a transparent rules engine from our interpretation of independent test findings and the answers you give us.
  • They are not a guarantee that a recommended ball will lower your scores, add distance, or perform a particular way for you. Golf is individual; real-world results vary with your swing, conditions, equipment and the accuracy of the information you enter.
  • The Service is not professional club-fitting, coaching, or a substitute for hitting balls yourself. The final choice — and the decision to buy anything — is yours.
  • Our performance scores are relative 1–10 rankings, not laboratory measurements. We explain this openly on our "How we score" page.

In short: we give you the best independent, explainable steer we can, and we show our working — but you make your own call.

3. Our independence

We don't sell golf balls. No manufacturer pays us. We take no affiliate commission and run no sponsored placements. This is core to how the Service works, not a marketing line — if the data points to a cheaper ball, that's what we'll tell you.

4. Third-party brands and data

Brand and product names (for example, manufacturer and model names) are the trademarks of their respective owners. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by any manufacturer.

Our scores aggregate the findings of independent tests onto our own consistent scale. We do not republish anyone's copyrighted tables, charts or text. References to third-party outlets are for attribution and corroboration only.

5. Using the Service responsibly

You agree not to:

  • use the Service for any unlawful purpose, or in a way that could damage or disrupt it;
  • attempt to copy, scrape, harvest or bulk-extract our ball database, scores, or content by automated means;
  • republish, resell or commercially exploit our scores, recommendations or content without our written permission;
  • attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the Service or its underlying systems.

You may use the Service and view your own results for your personal, non-commercial use.

6. Our content and intellectual property

The design, text, scoring scale, the way scores are derived and presented, the fitting logic, and the database as a whole are our intellectual property (or used by us under licence) and are protected by copyright and database rights. We grant you a limited, personal, non-transferable right to use the Service for fitting your own game. Everything in Section 5 above applies.

7. Availability and changes

We work to keep the Service available and accurate, but we provide it "as is" and "as available". We may change, suspend, or withdraw features, update scores as new evidence arrives, or take the Service offline for maintenance, without notice. We may also update these terms; the current version always lives on this page, with the date above.

8. Our liability

Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability where it would be unlawful to do so — including liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud.

Subject to that:

  • We give no warranty that the Service, or any recommendation, is error-free, complete, or will achieve a particular result for you.
  • To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any loss arising from your reliance on a recommendation, from your purchase or use of any golf ball, or from any inability to use the Service.
  • We are not responsible for the content of third-party websites we link to.

If you are using the Service as a consumer, these terms do not affect your statutory rights.

9. Governing law

These terms, and any dispute arising from them or the Service, are governed by the law of England and Wales, and are subject to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of its courts.
